Delta-10 and delta-8 THC are both pretty awesome — but which one is better?
That’s a dang good question. And while the answer to it is actually more of a personal one, there’s still something you should know about delta-10 and delta-8’s respective strength levels. Which one is stronger? Keep reading to find out.

What are D8 and D10?
First things first: delta 8-THC and delta-10 THC are both cannabinoids. Both of them can be found in the Cannabis Sativa plant species. Finally, both of them are THC isomers — which means they’re both psychotropic and super strong!
Which one is stronger, though? Keep reading to learn more about this important difference.
D8 vs. D10 THC: chemical composition
The only chemical difference between delta-8 and delta-10 is the position of a single chemical bond. This double bond occurs on the eighth carbon bond in delta-8 and the tenth carbon bond in delta-10.
This difference might seem tiny…but it leads to pretty significant differences in these cannabinoids’ effects. It’s thought that delta-10 THC has more of a preference for your brain’s psychedelic receptors (ie serotonin receptors) than delta-8 THC does.
Technical stuff aside, here’s what you can expect in terms of D10 and D8’s major effects.
|Delta-8 THC||Delta-10 THC|
|Federally legal||Federally legal|
|Illegal in some states||Illegal in some states|
|Affordable||Can be expensive|
|Trace amounts in cannabis/hemp||Extremely small amounts in cannabis/hemp|
D8 vs. D10: the effects
A quick look at the table above goes a long way towards understanding the differences between delta-8 and delta-10 THC. While neither of them is quite as strong as delta-9 THC, they manifest their strength in different ways. Delta-8 is more relaxing…delta-10 is more energizing. It’s almost like these two cannabinoids embody the difference between Indica’s and Sativa’s.
And that means D8 and D10 are best-suited to different users, different goals, and different times of the day. Delta-8 is probably better for those of you who want to kick back and unwind. Delta-10, on the other hand, is probably better for those of you who want to get excited about life and get stuff done!
Both of these cannabinoids tend to be a little milder than delta-9 THC, which means they can be enjoyed without experiencing harsh side effects like paranoia or dry mouth. (Just as long as you don’t take way more than your body needs.)
So…which cannabinoid is stronger? There’s really no clear-cut answer. Delta-8 is probably stronger in the sense that it binds to a broader variety of endocannabinoid receptors…but delta-10 is probably stronger in terms of euphoric effects.
D8 vs. D10 THC: legal status
Delta-8 and delta-10 THC have another thing in common: they’re completely legal nationwide. Just as long as these cannabinoids are derived from hemp, their use/enjoyment/sale is protected under the Federal Farm Bill.
That being said, some states have taken action to ban delta-8 and delta-10 THC, citing potential issues with product quality. Here’s a list of them.
|States where D8 is illegal||States where D10 is illegal|
D8 vs. D10 THC: affordability
Another area where delta-8 and delta-10 differ? Their pricing. Delta-8 production processes are pretty dialed-in by now, which means it’s easy to find high-quality D8 at an affordable price.
Delta-10, however, is so new that manufacturers haven’t yet been able to produce large amounts of it. Per the law of supply and demand, that means delta-10 is more expensive than more established cannabinoids. On the bright side, this pricing gap is likely to close in the near future.
D8 vs. D10 THC: where to find them
Both delta-8 and delta-10 THC can be found at dispensaries, smoke shops, and hemp/CBD shops across the nation.
But there’s an even better option if you want to get your hands on a truly premium product: buying online. At DD8 Shop we carry the industry’s strongest, purest, and best-tested D8 and D10 products. Check out the D8 here and the D10 here. We’ve done our best to offer a little something for everybody! Dispensary options tend to be overpriced in comparison.
D8 vs. D10 THC: how to take them
Regardless of whether you’re taking delta-8 THC, delta-10 THC, or some other cannabinoid, there’s a pretty important strategy you should follow: start low and go slow.
What’s that mean? That you should start out by trying a small dose and only move up to higher levels slowly…keyword being slowly. You could start out by taking 50 milligrams, sure, but why do that when you could feel amazing from just 20? Unless you start off by taking a lower amount, you won’t be able to dial things in with such precision.
D8 vs. D10 THC: drug testing
Both delta-8 THC and delta-10 THC can make you fail a point of care drug test. For this reason it’s important to abstain from these cannabinoids if you’re facing an upcoming drug test. Until drug testing protocols catch up with the ever-changing hemp scene, at least. Try out some premium CBD products instead.
D8 vs. D10 THC: which one is better?
There’s no easy answer to this one either. Delta-10 is more energizing…delta-8 is more sedating…et cetera. Basically, the choice is yours. It all depends on what type of vibe you’re after.
Want to chill out and unwind? Take delta-8. Want to get inspired and tackle that pesky to-do list? Take delta-10. Want to experience the best of both worlds? Hey, you can always take them both.
Many of our customers decide which cannabinoid is best through a more hands-on approach. To do this, just try out two identically-strength products — one delta-10 and one delta-8. Take the D10 product one day, observe its effects, and then take the D8 product the next day. After that, look back and reflect on which experience you liked better. That’ll tell you more than we ever could!
Summing things up
Both delta-10 and delta-8 THC are new, novel cannabinoids that are shaking up the hemp industry. So far, both of them have helped thousands of people reduce stress and improve their lives for the better.
If you’re ready to become more like the person you want to be (or if you just want to spice things up a little), give them a try! Lean towards delta-10 if you’re looking for more energy…and lean towards delta-8 if you’re looking for more bliss. And if you really want to dial things in, try them both. That way you can just stick with whichever one you enjoy most.
